Golf Club By-Laws


SS&A WODONGA GOLF CLUB INCORPORATED BY-LAWS

USE OF FACILITIES

Any member of the SS&A Club may, upon payment of fees prescribed by the SS&A Board be entitled to the use of the facilities of the Golf Association as set out below.

These categories and entitlements may require amendments depending on new categories of membership agreed by the SS&A Board.

Golfing members shall pay such annual subscription as the SS&A Board may determine from time to time and without limitation. The SS&A Board may set different fees and annual subscriptions for various classes of golfing membership as determined by the SS&A Board from time to time.

1.    PLATINUM AND 7 DAY MEMBERSHIP

a.    Platinum and 7 day golfing members are persons who have attained the age of eighteen (18) years and have paid the relevant fees as prescribed by the SS&A Board.

b.    Platinum and 7 day golfing members are entitled to:

(i)    full playing rights 7 days;
(ii)    represent the club in pennant competition;
(iii)    all social privileges and advantages of the club;
(iv)    attend and vote at Annual General Meetings and Special General Meetings of the Golf Club;
(v)    nominate for and be elected to hold office on the Golf Club Committee;
(vi)    vote at any annual, general or special meeting of the Association;
(vii)    propose, second and nominate any member for Life Membership; and
(viii)    contest any aspect of Club Championships or Board Events.

2.    6 DAY MEMBERSHIP

a.    6 day golfing members are entitled to:

(i)    full playing rights except Saturday;
(ii)    represent the club in pennant competition;
(iii)    all social privileges and advantages of the club;
(iv)    nominate for and be elected to hold office on any Non Executive position of the Golf Club Committee;
(v)    6 day members are not eligible to vote at Annual General Meetings or Special General Meetings of the club;
(vi)    cannot contest any aspect of Club Championships or Board Events.

3.    COUNTRY GOLFING MEMBERS

a.    Country golfing members are persons who have attained the age of eighteen (18) years and who reside outside a radius of one hundred (100)  kilometres from the Wodonga Post Office and who have paid the relevant fees prescribed by the SS&A Board.
b.    Country golfing members shall pay a subscription lower than that for Platinum, 7 & 6 day members as determined by the SS&A Board from time to time.
c.    Country golfing members are entitled to:

(i)    full playing rights except cannot contest any aspect of Club Championships or Board Events;
(ii)    represent the club in pennant competition;
(iii)    all social privileges and advantages of the club;
(iv)    propose, second and nominate any member for Life Membership.

d.    Country golfing members are not eligible to nominate for or be elected as a Committee member of the Golf Club or vote at Annual General Meetings or Special General Meetings of the club.

4.    DEFENCE MEMBER

a.    A Defence Member are persons who are current Full Time Serving Members of the Australian Defence Force.
b.    full playing rights as per Platinum and 7 day members;
c.    represent the club in pennant competition;
d.    nominate for and be elected to hold office on any Non Executive position of the Golf Club Committee;
e.    vote at any annual, general or special meeting of the Association.

5.    VETERAN GOLFING MEMBERS

a.    Veteran golfing members are persons who have attained the age of fifty five (55) for men and fifty (50) for ladies who are either a financial Platinum, 7 day, 6 day, Defence Member or Country Member and have paid the relevant fees as prescribed by the SS&A Board.
b.    Super Veteran golfing members are persons who have attained the age of sixty five (65) for men and sixty (60) for ladies who are either a financial Platinum, 7 day, 6 day or Country Member and have paid the relevant fees as prescribed by the SS&A Board.
c.    A Veteran sub-committee is to be elected by the veterans and consist of:

(i)    a representative on the SS&A Golf Club Incorporated committee;
(ii)    a delegate on the North East District Veterans Golf Association;
(iii)    a co-delegate on the North East District Veterans Golf Association.

6.    LADY GOLFING MEMBERS

a.    Lady golfing members are ladies who have attained the age of eighteen (18) years and who are either a financial Platinum, 7 day, 6 day or country member and have paid the relevant fees as prescribed by the SS&A Board.
b.    Any financial lady member is eligible to compete in ladies competitions held by the SS&A Wodonga Golf Club Incorporated.
c.    A Ladies sub-committee is to be elected by its members and consist of:

(i)    at least a Captain and Handicapper;
(ii)    a representative on the SS&A Golf Club Incorporated committee;
(iii)    a co-delegate on the North East District Veterans Golf Association; and
(iv)    a representative on any North East District Ladies Golf Association.

7.    JUNIOR GOLFING MEMBERS

a.    Junior golfing members are persons under the age of eighteen (18) years who have paid the relevant fees as prescribed by the SS&A Board.
b.    A junior member shall be entitled to the use of such facilities of the club, as the Board shall determine from time to time.
c.    On attainment of a recognised AGU handicap, a junior member shall be entitled to:

(i)    participate in all relevant golf competitions upon payment of the necessary entry fees; and
(ii)    represent the club in pennant competitions both in senior and/or junior levels.

d.     A Junior member shall NOT be entitled to:

(i)    attend and vote at Annual General Meetings and Special General Meetings of the club;
(ii)    take part in the management of the club;
(iii)    propose, second and nominate any member for any office of the club;
(iv)    propose, second and nominate any member for Life Membership.

e.    Upon attainment of the age of eighteen (18) years a junior member may apply to the SS&A Club to transfer to 7 day, 6 day or Country Membership.

8.    SUB COMMITTEES

a.    Sub Committees may be raised within the Veterans, Ladies Memberships and Junior Development Golf to cater for the specific competitions and needs within those memberships.
b.    Sub Committees members are to be chosen by the members within those categories of memberships.
c.    Sub-committees are not required to keep formal records of meetings and are not authorised to make decisions on behalf of the SS&A Wodonga Golf Club Incorporated Committee.
d.    All finances must be arranged in consultation with the Treasurer of the SS&A Wodonga Golf Club Incorporated.

9.    PAYMENT OF FEES FOR USE OF FACILITIES

a.    Payment of fees for the use of facilities shall be made by the due date as set by the SS&A Board. Any member who has not paid the appropriate fees by the due date shall not be eligible to:

(i)    use the appropriate facilities of the Association; and
(ii)    represent the SS&A Wodonga Golf Club Incorporated in competition;
(iii)    hold a handicap (where applicable).

b.    These rights shall be restored to the member upon payment of the appropriate fees.

10.    COMPLAINTS

a.    All complaints shall be made in writing to the Secretary of the SS&A Wodonga Golf Club Incorporated who shall then submit that complaint to the Committee.
b.    The Committee’s decision on any complaint shall be final subject to the processes described in the club constitution.

11.    BREAKAGES AND DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY

a.    No member shall take away, or permit to be taken away from the Association premises under any pretence whatsoever or shall injure or destroy any newspaper, pamphlet, book or other article, which is the property of the Association.
b.    Members breaking or destroying any article of the property of the Association may be required by the Committee to pay for it.

12.    NOTICES

No paper, notice or placard, written or printed shall be posted in the clubhouse without sanction of a member of the Committee.

13.    RECIPROCAL RIGHTS

Reciprocal Rights are available at a number of clubs around Australia. In most cases members of the SS&A Wodonga Golf Club Incorporated will be required to pay 50% green fees, however this may vary from club to club. 6 day members are entitled to use reciprocal rights but should make the reciprocal club aware of their 6 day membership if the member wishes to play on a Saturday.
