Golf Management Commttee

The Board of Directors recently convened a Community Reference Group (CRG) to assist resolve the current issues faced at SS&A Wodonga.

From the viewpoints put forward in the CRG report, the Board committed to ensuring Golf in Wodonga continues and have now appointed a Golf Management Committee (GMC) to manage by delegation, the Golf Course activities at SS&A Wodonga.

The members of this Committee are:

  • John Mahony
  • Colin Ginnivan
  • Bernie Squire

The Golf Management Committee’s responsibilities are:

  • To make the golf section of the Wodonga facility self sufficient;
  • To gain members support for the golf facility;
  • To improve golf operations;
  • To engage with the members on what they wish out of their Club.

Please see below for the Golf Management Committee Terms of Reference

With this criteria in mind the Golf Management Committee have decided, with input from the existing Golf Committee, to keep membership fees the same as last year and Joining Fees no longer apply. This is designed to retain the current membership base and to encourage lapsed members back to the Club.

Fees for 2011/2012 are:

  • Platinum & 7 Day Member $550.00
  • 6 Day Member $420.00
  • Defence Members $275.00 (6 months membership - Current Serving member of the ADF)
  • Country Members $150.00 (Ordinarily resident more than 100kms from the Club)
  • Junior members (Under 18) - Competition Play $100.00
  • Junior Members (Under 18) - No Competition Play $50.00

The Golf Management Committee are committed to ensuring the survival of the golf course.

The GMC have also introduced a $3 per competition round “fighting fund” additional to the competition fees. This is designed to help with the financial viability of the golf course and to bring the course into a break even position.

We are asking all members to get behind these initiatives and help us improve the performance of the golf facility in Wodonga.

Another pleasing result for the GMC, is that they have taken over the running of the Raffles inside the Golf Clubhouse on a Thursday night. All proceeds from these raffles will be channelled back into the golf course to help the GMC reach its financial goals without increasing membership fees. Anyone who can assist in the running of these raffles is asked to contact the Committee who will welcome your help.

The GMC are also pleased to announce that the proceeds from a Telstra Tower to be installed on the site will generate an additional $10,000 per year to the financial performance of the golf course.
